Women Safety

I am working with Mercer India Pvt. Ltd as an Analyst. My work timings are evening shift from 5:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. My parents do get worried about me and my safety at night as the crime continues to increase in the city. I vividly remember my parents wanting me to change my job from night shift to day shift. But I personally didn’t want to change my job as I like my job profile and had struggle a lot to get the job in an esteemed organisation. I assured them that it’s a big organisation and there are lots of provisions in this company for female employees. More over there are many girls working in night shift and company makes sure that their female employees are safe.

Is it right that a girl should sacrifice her desire and ambition just because the city is not safe? Is it true that we all are free birds yet girls are not free? Why the criminals are not given strict punishment so that the crime decreases? Why is it so that only girls are taught like not go out in the evening or to dress properly? Why we accept the reason (criminal) boys give that “Girl was wearing sexy clothes so I raped her”? Why (criminal) boys are not taught that boys should not take any wrong step at any cost – no matter what the girl is wearing? India has habit of following almost everything foreign countries, so why India is not able to adopt the good thing about the foreign countries that they don’t interfere in others life? Why living in the capital is becoming a nightmare especially for girls?

The above questions may or may not be answered. But the fact remains that Capital city is now progressing to become the crime city.
